Types of funding

Federal funds: National funds include Title funds under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) funds. What are the types of Title funds?
- Title I: Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged. Helps schools with high percentages of students from low-income families improve academic outcomes.
- Title II: Preparing, Training, and Recruiting High-Quality Teachers, Principals, or Other School Leaders. Supports professional development and educator effectiveness.
- Title III: Language Instruction For English Learners and Immigrant Students. Helps English Language Learners and immigrant youth attain English proficiency and meet high levels of academic achievement.
- Title IV: 21st Century Schools. Offers flexible funding for programs that support well-rounded education, including STEM, technology integration, and safe learning environments.
- Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) funds: Supports free, appropriate public education for eligible children with disabilities.
- Funding for artificial intelligence (AI): As of July 2025, educators may use formula and discretionary grant funds to support improved academic outcomes through the responsible integration of AI.
