K-12 STEM Solutions for Title IV-A Hawai'i Schools
Request InformationExploreLearning’s interactive math and science solutions support Title IV-A goals by making rigorous, engaging STEM learning accessible to all students. Proposals are being submitted under two key areas: Activities to Support Well-Rounded Educational (WRE) Opportunities and Activities to Support the Effective Use of Technology (EUT).
Activities to Support Well-Rounded Educational (WRE) Opportunities
ExploreLearning’s solutions are designed to address some of the most pressing challenges in STEM education. Our products are aligned to Hawaiian standards and focus on driving meaningful student outcomes.
How do our solutions support critical thinking and readiness for advanced coursework?
Reflex: The most effective math fact fluency solution
Grades 2+
Reflex (for math fact fluency) and Frax (for fractions understanding) are evidence-based elementary math programs that enhance existing classroom materials and curricula. Rather than skimming the surface, Reflex and Frax provide focused instruction and adaptive practice to help students master the foundational skills that matter most. And thanks to game-based and individualized learning, both platforms give students the motivation and math confidence to take on what comes next! Both Reflex and Frax align with the NCTM guiding principles.
Reflex provides students with the foundations for advanced problem-solving. With Reflex, students receive guidance to learn from their mistakes and develop math fact proficiency that frees up working memory space to solve more complex problems.

Frax: Make fractions finally make sense
Grades 3+
Frax stops the fraction struggle through an adaptive, game-based system that helps students build a strong understanding of fractions for ongoing success in higher mathematics.
- Foundational instruction. Students work extensively with length models and number lines to understand fractions as numbers first.
- Research-based success. Across all achievement levels, students who use Frax meet or exceed growth benchmarks at significantly higher rates.
- Engaging and effective. Each Frax mission features game-based challenges that build understanding while motivating students with rewards for effort and progress.
- Classroom support. With Frax offline activities, comprehensive support materials, and real-time reporting, educators can quickly discover when students are struggling and how to help.
- Frax helps students develop a conceptual understanding of fractions that is crucial for future success in algebra and beyond. Using Frax, students make connections to whole numbers, manipulate numbers, and compare fractions. Through online and offline activities, students collaborate with peers to explain and discuss reasoning and solutions.
Gizmos: The world’s largest library of math and science simulations
Grades 3-12
Gizmos virtual math and science simulations (grades 3-12) are aligned with NGSS and promote inquiry-based learning. 550+ simulations and STEM Cases allow students to experience phenomena and concepts, capture and compare results, make predictions, and share findings with others. Gizmos simulations address similar concepts with differing levels of complexity, allowing students to tackle rigorous applications of standards through different simulations when they are ready to progress.
- Students use abstract and quantitative reasoning to explain answers, present results, and apply understanding to new situations.
- Through collaboration, students construct and critique arguments.
- All simulations include multiple steps that build on one another and involve all Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels.
- Curated Gizmos lists align with accelerated science instructional programs such as Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
- Educators can browse Gizmos correlations with college-readiness standards.
- Vocabulary resources prepare students for future STEM courses.
- STEM Cases offer a glimpse at life in other countries or environments, allowing students to explore career paths while learning about challenges facing different communities.
Science4Us: Give kids a head start in STEM
Grades K-2
Science4Us (grades K-2) gives students a head start in STEM with modules covering Inquiry, Physical Science, Life Science, and Earth & Space Science. Literacy-infused lessons allow students to build vocabulary and learn about their world through thousands of online and offline activities, including digital notebooks, poems, songs, and more. Science4Us allows students to learn NGSS-aligned material and explore real-world scenarios to see how science concepts are part of daily life.
- Early science instruction helps students develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and reading comprehension.
- Each part of the lesson presents the core concepts differently, guiding students to make connections and consider different scenarios.
- Lessons integrate literacy, math skills, and cross-curricular content knowledge to support foundational skills across domains.
- Students are exposed to a variety of STEM concepts through hands-on learning to prevent achievement gaps.
