Using the Gizmo Screenshot Feature
Did you know that all the ExploreLearning Gizmos have a nifty screen-capture feature built in? With only a couple clicks, you can place a custom image taken from a Gizmo into your worksheets, quizzes, and tests!
Examples
Here are some sample quizzes we created by using the Screen-Shot feature:
- Quiz for Slope-Intercept Form of a Line (click file type you wish to use): pdf|Word document (long version)|Word document (short version)
- Quiz for Introductory Physics, Freefall Lab, pdf
Procedure
- Manipulate the Gizmo until the Gizmo shows the image you desire.
- Use the Screen-Shot tools to capture the image you want. You can always capture the entire Gizmo display, and often you can capture just a small part of it. For example, in the image shown below from the Fraction Artist Gizmo, clicking the small camera will give you a snapshot of just the painting while clicking the larger camera icon yields a snapshot of the entire Gizmo display.
For somewhat older Gizmos, snapshot icons look different:
Whole-Gizmo Screen-Shot and Partial-Gizmo Screen-Shot
Our original Gizmos used clipboard icons instead:
- If you are using a standard word processing program, you can paste the image directly into a document. Typically this is done by right-clicking and selecting paste.
- If needed, edit the snapshot within the graphics or word processing program you are using. You can resize the image quickly by dragging the "handles" that show up when you paste it. In the image below, the cursor was placed over one of these handles, which turned it into the double-headed arrow.
