Regional Professional Development Manager (Mathematics)

ExploreLearning has an opening for a Regional Professional Development Manager whose specialty is mathematics education.

The Professional Development Manager's primary duties are to build broad and successful usage of Gizmos by managing and implementing high quality ExploreLearning Gizmo product training and professional development (PD) across ExploreLearning's national network. The Professional Development Manager is also responsible for supporting sales efforts.

The Professional Development Manager is a full-time member of ExploreLearning's Professional Development (PD) division and reports to ExploreLearning's Director of Professional Development.

Location: Remote employee (home office)
Primary Duties:
  1. Management and Training Duties (~90% of position)
    • Contribute to the ExploreLearning's PD division's goals, objectives, and projects
    • As Manager of Professional Development of an assigned geographic region
      • Manage PD scheduling activities through collaboration with the PD Coordinator
      • Recruit, train, manage, and evaluate a cadre of Certified Trainers
      • Collaborate with the Director of PD to set, document, analyze, and manage PD activities towards measurable performance metrics as needed
      • Interact with customers, sales division members, and PD division members regarding PD scheduling and fulfillment
    • As professional developer
      • Represent ExploreLearning in the field and through telecommunications and e-learning while fulfilling PD assignments
      • Deliver Gizmo PD across ExploreLearning's national network, as assigned
      • Provide documentation of pre-event, on-site, and post-event activities related to professional development activities
    • Assist in the development and implementation of innovative PD programs
    • Other PD tasks, as assigned
  2. Sales Assistance Duties (~10% of position)
    • Represent ExploreLearning and present awareness sessions at sales events and professional conferences
    • Provide documentation of pre-event, on-site, and post-event activities related to sales support activities
Required Qualifications and Skills
  1. As a manager:
    • 2-3 years of management or coordinator experience
    • Successful experience in recruiting, training, and managing staff and contract trainers and professional developers
    • Proven ability to work with small, flexible, cross-functional teams to set measurable goals and meet or exceed them.
    • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time Ability to act independently and responsibly
    • Proven leadership skills
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to meet deadlines
  2. As a professional development and sales support provider
    • Experience delivering PD for teachers, particularly in mathematics and science
    • 2-3 years of classroom experience as a teacher of mathematics and science
    • Knowledge of educational research pertaining to instruction and PD in mathematics and science
    • Skilled use of technology in teaching practice, for training events, and for personal use
    • Ability to travel (up to 75%) independently to complete assignments
Education

Degree in mathematics education (Masters preferred), undergraduate degree (Major) in mathematics, and teacher license in mathematics.

Certified Trainer (Ontario)

ExploreLearning is seeking experienced science and math educators interested in joining a network of teacher-trainers conducting professional development for Ontario school boards. This is an occasional, contract position with remuneration on a per diem basis.

Primary duties:
  • The Certified Trainer's duties include the presentation of high quality ExploreLearning Gizmo professional development across ExploreLearning's network in Ontario.
  • Participate in the collaborative efforts to endorse and support the use of Gizmos by teachers in Ontario classrooms.
Required qualifications and skills:
  • Experience delivering professional development for teachers, particularly in high school science and math
  • Minimum of 3 years of classroom experience as a teacher of science and/or mathematics
  • Willingness to participate in the collaborative efforts of the ExploreLearning Professional Development team
  • Flexibility to facilitate professional development workshops on an occasional, on-call basis
  • Working knowledge of best practices in the use of simulations/technology for classroom instruction
  • Professional references attesting to presentation and teaching skills
Education/License

Ontario Certified Mathematics or Science Teacher

Sr. Database Administrator (DBA) – MS SQL server

Job summary:

Work directly with engineers on data modeling, logical/physical schema design, and SQL query tuning. Assist engineers in troubleshooting, debugging, and issue resolutions on database related problems.

Here are a few things we're looking for:
  • Install and support MS SQL servers and databases – SQL Server 2005 & 2008
  • Performance and tuning of MS SQL servers
  • Monitor MS SQL servers
  • Plan for and perform upgrades of MS SQL software
  • Design and implement SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for server maintenance, data transfer and cleaning, and other databases tasks
  • Maintain and improve current Data Transformation Services (DTS)
  • Assist developers in SQL query tuning
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of MSSQL DBA experience
  • 3+ years of Transact SQL Experience
  • Strong familiarity with database replication, clustering, and log shipping
  • Strong problem solving abilities, strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team and individually
  • Experience using database monitoring tools and third party monitoring tools
  • Strong performance tuning and capacity planning experience
Additional skills:
  • Working knowledge of Software Development Life Cycles for web applications
  • Familiarity with Java development language and related tools
  • Familiarity with ColdFusion 9 development and related tools
