The Multimedia Developer (Macromedia Director) is responsible for developing innovative interactive content for K-12 math and science topics.
Duties
- Analyze functional specifications authored by instructional designers and give feedback on technical facets of their design.
- Based on specifications, develop new interactive objects for integration into the PathfinderPlus architecture.
- As necessary, evolve and extend the PathfinderPlus architecture as directed by senior ExploreLearning staff.
Requirements
- Extensive experience developing commercial applications using Macromedia Director.
- Extremely strong Lingo skills, particularly within an OOP modular architecture. The following areas of Lingo expertise are highly desirable: imaging Lingo, networking Lingo, XML, LDMs (Linked Director Movies). - Experience with code development in a team environment (e.g., familiarity with systems such as CVS, use of code bibles, etc.). Developers who are averse to such things as following variable naming conventions, commenting code, etc. are not good candidates for this project.
- A background in middle/high school math/science education is an advantage, but not a requirement. A passion for making a difference in education is.
Education
Advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, curriculum / instruction / assessment, or instructional technology is desirable, but not as important as the experience and skills described above.
