Help shape the future of math and science assessment!
We are currently in Year 1 of a major, 2-year NSF SBIR grant (National Science Foundation Small Business Innovative Research) to develop a next-generation online assessment system for math and science. The system (working title: PathfinderPlus) uses highly interactive content as the medium of assessment. These interactivities are based on ExploreLearning's Gizmos and will enable teachers to evaluate a broader range of objectives than is viable through conventional forms of testing (e.g., multiple-choice questions).
ExploreLearning is confident that assessing students via interactive content will expose valuable information about their grasp of the 'big ideas' in mathematics and the sciences, as well as help teachers to more efficiently remediate and address individual students' misconceptions and difficulties.
If the idea of revolutionizing assessment in this way excites you as much as it does us, we have a number of open contract positions related to this project that will provide you with the opportunity to work on significant aspects of the system's development.
Positions we are currently accepting applications for include:
- Assessment developers / test & item writers (Mathematics)
- Multimedia developer (Macromedia Director)
Follow the links above for a full description of each position
General requirements for all positions:
- Solid time-management skills and a proven ability to accurately estimate task completion time.
- Excellent communicators with attentive listening and effective speaking / writing skills.
- Self-managed, capable of working independently.
Note: These are 1099 contractor positions. The successful candidates will execute a Work for Hire Agreement and will be paid on a milestone/deliverable basis. All contractors and Critical Friends (see below) will be required to execute a Non-Disclosure and Developments Agreement.
Although we are open to considering telecommuting for virtually all of the positions, the conditions of the grant require that all work be performed in the United States.
HAVE A DAY JOB, BUT STILL WANT TO BE PART OF THE REVOLUTION?
Consider becoming a Critical Friend! Critical friends are educators who review prototypes and works-in-progress and help us to improve them by offering feedback on their strengths and weaknesses. If this sounds like the kind of thing you were born to do, please email Paul Cholmsky: .
